Indian Holiday Calendar
National, state, and optional holidays — and how to build a policy around them.
Three types of holidays
India has national holidays (Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti — 3 mandatory), state-specific holidays (vary by state, 5–10 per year), and optional/restricted holidays (religious festivals — employees choose from a list). The total is typically 10–15 paid holidays per year.
State variation matters
If your team is spread across Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi, they'll have different holiday calendars. Maharashtra celebrates Gudi Padwa, Karnataka celebrates Ugadi, and Delhi has its own set. We configure per-location calendars.
Aligning with your EU calendar
Most clients give Indian public holidays plus alignment with key EU holidays (Christmas, Easter). The exact list is something we help you build — balancing Indian statutory requirements with your company culture.
