Leave Policies in India — Platform view
Statutory leave types
Indian law mandates different leave types depending on the state. Generally: Earned Leave (EL) / Privilege Leave — 15–21 days/year, accrued monthly, can be carried forward and encashed. Casual Leave (CL) — 7–12 days/year, for short unplanned absences, cannot be carried forward. Sick Leave (SL) — 7–12 days/year, requires medical certificate for extended periods.
Customary additions
Most companies also offer: maternity leave (26 weeks, mandatory), paternity leave (typically 5–15 days, not yet mandatory for all), bereavement leave, and compensatory off for weekend work. You can customize your policy — we ensure it meets state minimums.
How it flows
Employees apply for leave through the portal. Approvals can be configured (auto-approve, manager approval, or Cyphertree admin). Approved leave is automatically reflected in attendance and payroll. Balances are visible to employees in real time.
