Appraisal Cycles
How Indian appraisal cycles typically work — timing, increments, and expectations.
Appraisal Cycles — Platform view
Standard timing
Most Indian companies run annual appraisals aligned with the financial year (April–March). Reviews happen in January–March, with increments and promotions effective from April. This is the expectation your Indian team will have — even if your European HQ runs on a calendar year cycle.
Increment expectations
Average annual increments in Indian tech are 8–15% for good performers. High performers may expect 20–25%. Below 8% is often perceived as a signal to start looking. These expectations are higher than European norms and important to calibrate.
