Major talent hubs
Bangalore
India's Silicon Valley. Deepest engineering pool, but highest salaries. Home to most startups and global R&D centers. Expect premium pricing for senior talent.
Pune
Strong engineering base with 15–25% lower salaries than Bangalore. Growing startup ecosystem. Excellent for mid-level and senior hires at reasonable cost.
Hyderabad
Major IT hub with strong enterprise engineering talent. Microsoft, Google, Amazon all have large offices here. Good balance of quality and cost.
Delhi NCR (Gurgaon / Noida)
Strong in product, business, and operations roles. Also has a deep engineering pool, particularly in fintech and enterprise software.
Chennai & Mumbai
Chennai excels in embedded systems and automotive tech. Mumbai is stronger for finance, compliance, and business operations roles.
What to expect
Indian professionals — especially in tech — tend to be highly skilled, adaptable, and comfortable working across time zones. Most have strong English proficiency, particularly in southern and western India.
Notice periods are typically 1–3 months (not 2 weeks like in the US). Senior roles at large companies may have 90-day notice periods, which affects your hiring timeline.
The best candidates move fast. In Bangalore especially, strong engineers receive multiple offers within days. Having a streamlined interview process and competitive offer matters.
